Job Description
The Mechanical Engineer Technician will provide technical expertise, hands-on support, and project management across diverse mechanical systems and equipment. This role focuses on ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant operation, maintenance, and development of mechanical assets while contributing to successful engineering project delivery.
Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and manage mechanical engineering projects to ensure timely and quality outcomes.
- Prepare and review technical drawings, plans, and designs for mechanical systems, equipment, and tools.
- Estimate material costs and quantities, providing technical and financial input.
- Assist with design, installation, and commissioning of new machinery and systems.
- Assemble, install, and maintain machinery, hydraulic systems, and mechanical components.
- Develop and supervise preventive and corrective maintenance plans and procedures.
- Monitor equipment performance to optimise reliability and troubleshoot complex faults.
- Organise inspections, servicing, and maintenance of plant and equipment.
- Conduct performance tests, analyse data, and prepare engineering computations.
- Prepare technical diagrams, reports, and recommendations for operational improvements.
- Provide technical support to teams on mechanical systems and processes.
- Ensure regulatory compliance and adherence to safety standards.
- Support HSSE audits and corrective measures.
- Apply technical expertise in pumps, propulsion engines, power-generating engines, compressors, boilers, cranes, purification systems, freshwater generation, LSA, and FFE.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent trade/technical qualification.
- Proven experience in mechanical systems installation, maintenance, and project engineering.
- Strong knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and electromechanical systems.
- Proficiency in preparing technical drawings and engineering documentation.
- Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Commitment to health, safety, and regulatory compliance.
